Q. Once I buy my cover, do you take it off the site and never resell it?
A. Yes. The cover you purchase is yours, you won't find the same cover anywhere else. It will be removed from our site as soon as it's purchased.
Q. Do I own sole rights to the photograph used in the cover design?
A. No, but you DO own sole rights to the cover design we produce for you. Although we do purchase stock images for use due to their exceptional quality, we invariably add additional textures and/or other design elements to the image to create a final ebook cover that is completely unique.
Q. I found another cover that uses the same image as one that's on the cover that I purchased, why? I thought all of your covers are unique.
A. All our covers are one-of-a-kind because they have been modified from the original to enhance the design. We add additional textures and/or other design elements to the image to create a final ebook cover that is completely unique. Most covers are made using stock photos, often more than one per cover, and these stock images are available for any artist to buy.
We are able to offer professionally designed book covers at a low price because most of our covers are created with stock photos. If you are looking to get a book cover that is totally different from any cover ever created, you'll want to either hire an illustrator, or you'd need to hire a photographer, a model, rent a costume and then have a custom photo shoot.
Q. After I buy my cover, how do I get it?
A. As soon as you finish paying with PayPal and provide your book information, we will make the appropriate changes and get a proof to you for approval within 48 hours (excluding weekends) by email. If you prefer another method of receiving, please specify in the comments with your order.
Q. I found a cover on your site that is ALMOST perfect, can I have that cover changed?
A. Yes, but there will likley be an additional charge. Send us a message letting us know which cover and what changes you would like and we will get back to you with a quote.
Q. Can I buy my cover without text on it and customize it myself?
A. Yes. Just specify this in the comments when you make your purchase and we will send the image to you without text.
Q. I found a great cover for a book I'm thinking about writing, can I buy the cover now and customize it later?
A. Yes, just specify that during your purchase, and we will hold the image for you and make the customizations when you are ready.
Q: After I purchase my cover, I get a low resolution 72dpi cover file, and a high resolution 300dpi cover file. Which do I use, and where?
A: Most distributors (Amazon KDP, Nook Press, Apple, Kobo, Smashwords) prefer you upload the high resolution 300dpi cover. When you're promoting the book on the web or social media you'll want to use the low resolution cover.
Q. What do I do if I want a custom book cover?
A. Send us a contact message indicating you would like a custom cover and specify and artist who's style you like and a stock image you would prefer if you have found one, and we will send you a quote.
Q. Should I credit Robot Brain Design in my book?
A. We love getting credit, but it is not required - if you wish to credit us, you can just put something like "Cover by Robot Brain Design"
However, you may be required to include a copyright notice to the stock photo provider. If this is the case we will provide the text to include in your front matter.
Q. Will you help me promote my book with your cover?
A. YES! If you're on Twitter, we can help you promote your book when you've published it by Tweeting to us with your buy link and we will retweet - or send us a message and we will post it to our Facebook page.
